Welcome to P.E. The HEARTbeat of Education!

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body,
it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. ~ John F. Kennedy
R.J. Richey Physical Education
I believe physical education is the HEARTbeat of ALL education! It is a vital part of a child's educational endeavor. Here at R.J. Richey physical education provides opportunities for all students with emphasis placed on lifetime activities. Students are to accomplish various skills within realm of their individual abilities. Major content areas include motor and manipulative skills, rhythms, gymnastics, physical fitness, skills and lead-up games related to individual and team sports.
Because physical fitness and the reinforcement of positive healthy lifestyle practices are major goals of ours, I solicit your cooperation by encouraging your child to participate in daily activities.
If a child is ill, I request a written note from a parent/guardian that briefly explains that nature of the complication along with the date and the parents signature. After three days of excuses, it is a district requirement to request a written note from an attending physician.
Students are not expected to change clothes for physical education, BUT clothing suitable for active play is needed. I ask your student to wear tennis shoes or other type of athletic shoes with a flat rubber sole. If the shoes have eyelets, they must have laces. Girls should wear shorts under dresses or skirts. Students will receive a grade for being prepared which includes their clothes and shoes.
I appreciate your support and cooperation in assisting me to provide opportunities for your child. Please feel free to contact me for any reason!
Thank you,
Coach Christina Carmichael
