RJ Richey Physical Education

Physical Education is an essential component in the lives of our students at RJ Richey Elementary School! At RJ Richey, students will be encouraged to participate and reach their utmost potential everyday, as physical education encourages students to pursue lifetime fitness skills and goals.

Students will be expected to follow the safety rules, participate daily in activities, and wear appropriate shoes and clothing on PE days. If a student cannot participate due to a sickness or a medical condition, please provide a written note from a parent/guardian that explains the limitations including the date and a signature. If a student needs to be medically excused from PE for more than three days, it is a district requirement to provide the appropriate documentation from a physician.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year in the gym at RJ Richey Elementary School. I appreciate your cooperation and support and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me!

Thank you,

Coach Ritenour

Hi, my name is Holly Ritenour and I am looking forward to another wonderful year at RJ Richey Elementary! Go Bulldogs!

I have 24 years teaching experience in the elementary and middle school setting, with 20 of those years as an elementary physical education teacher. I have taught and coached in several districts throughout my career including Killeen ISD, Belton ISD, Lake Travis ISD and Northside ISD!

I played collegiate basketball for four years at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I also completed my Master of Science degree in Health, Human Performance and Recreation from Baylor University.

I have been married for 32 years and have two wonderful daughters! My oldest daughter, Alex, is a Pharmacist in Dallas and my youngest daughter, Jami, is a 4th grade teacher in Georgetown ISD.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year moving, learning and becoming physically fit in the gym!

Grading Policies

I strive to create an environment where students learn about health and fitness, but also take responsibility for their learning and actions. Students come to PE three times a week. Each week, students will start our with a 100 (E). If students fail to participate, fail to follow expectations or are disrespectful towards other classmates/teachers, students will have points deducted. The deductions are as follows:

                 -No Participation

                 -Not following expectations

                 - Excessive talking or disruptions during instruction

-Disrespectful towards other classmates and teachers

With each deduction, the grade will be lowered to S, N, or U.

Students will get a grade each week. At the end of the six weeks, grades will be averaged to display grades as Excellent (E), Satisfactory (S), Needs Improvement (N), or Unsatisfactory (U).
