Welcome to RJ Richey Fine Arts!
Howdy folks! My name is Trent Shipp, and I'm so excited to introduce myself to the Burnet CISD community! I have the distinct pleasure of being the Fine Arts teacher for R.J. Richey Elementary School. I am a proud Bertram native, where I live with my wife and two young children, two dogs, and a whole bunch of cattle out in our pasture! I graduated from Burnet High School in 2007, where I was involved with the Esprit de Corps, UIL Academics, Technology Production, 4-H and Burnet County Livestock Show, Graphic Production, Spanish, and Athletics. I was inspired by Esprit de Corps Director Emeritus, dear friend, and mentor, Mike Lewis, to pursue a career in Music Education at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. I received my degree in Music Education, with focus on percussion and conducting. While a student at HPU I was a featured soloist for the HPU Jazz Ensemble, and received citations for Excellence in Music History Research.
I have been blessed with a wide range of teaching experience, from students as young as three all the way to Senior adults, from state-level High School Band and Choir programs to brand new developing Elementary programs and beginning private lessons. I have also worked both freelance and professionally as a Graphic Design and Video Production Artist. This has allowed me to cultivate a high-level holistic appreciation for the arts and their impact on the lives of children. I can’t wait to help your students fall in love with the arts!
