Jessica McMullen, RJR Elementary Principal

Dear RJ Richey Bulldog Families,

I wanted to take this opportunity to express how excited I am to be joining the Burnet CISD community as RJ Richey's principal this year!   I am looking forward to years of learning and growing with our Bulldog students and working collaboratively with our staff and you, our parents and community members.

Joining the BCISD & RJ team is such a blessing, as I transition from Georgetown where I've lived and served for the past 6 years as the principal of Ford Elementary.  Previously, my little family and I lived and served in the Fort Bend area where I was a middle school and elementary principal for the previous 5 years before moving to Central Texas.  Our family loves all that the Burnet area offers for families and the futures of our students.  My husband, Tyson, and I have one daughter, Alison, who is 8 years old and keeps us busy behind the scenes with horseback riding and sports.

I received both my Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University (Go Lumberjacks!), as well as an Educational Entrepreneurship degree and certificate from Rice University in Houston.  I continue to be highly involved in the Raise Your Hand Texas Collaborative Program here in Austin and attend Harvard University for educational leadership programs that help empower and improve public schools across the nation.  I have served in the field of education for the last 19 years with experience at the elementary, middle, and high school levels as a teacher, curriculum designer, assistant principal, as well as principal for the last ten years.  I continue to be blessed by being a part of another sensational school in Burnet CISD that is steeped in rich traditions of excellence.

My main priority is to ensure that every student is provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment with high expectations for excellence and a committed focus on building a strong, positive culture where everyone works together to achieve new levels of success.  Working together as a team with our students, staff, parents, and community, I am committed to helping each and every student achieve their very best.  Every student is valued and worthy of our best effort, and together, I know that we can make a difference.

I've experienced such a warm welcome to RJ Richey already and have had the opportunity to meet many of the families.  I look forward to joining you in many of our school activities at RJR throughout the year!

It is my belief that parents and community members are our partners in the educational process and success of our students.  Strong positive relationships with families are extremely important to the success of our school.  Your voice is very important, so please feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.  I am very excited to be able to serve this wonderful community as the principal of R.J. Richey Elementary School and build lasting success with you all.
